A day at a time...

So...I MOVED!!! I am shamefully no longer a Portlander which is bittersweet for me. I finally got my first "real" job in Washington state and it is so terrific! Super exciting. I am having a great time so far. So today  marks the end of my first week. As some may or may not know, I am a nurse! The life of any medical professional ranging from caregiver to doctor is a hectic one! Always mostly busy, and a lot of different ideas to keep in mind. Anywho...last week Friday, Tajli and I went on a fabulous drive down one of my new fav roads. Fun times, anything that reminds me of home (Zimbabwe), I am there! I call this skirt my "GROWN WOMAN) maxi (beyonce inuendo). "You love the walk, huh huh huh, I walk with vengeance!" lol

CALIfornia

So late guys, but the end of Sept (about two weeks ago) I went to SoCal for a music and worship conference...AMAZING TIME!!! Really enjoyed myself and my little heart was so blessed beyond measure! God is woohoo great! Also, my bro Thulani lives there and so does his gf's family so I spent time with them. It was SO GREAT to see my brother and Tasha (his gf). I love those guys. We had such an amazing time! They did their best to show me SoCal with the little time we had.

Top 5 moments:
1. Traveling with the Sharon Church Choir (fun times)
2. Spending quality time with my brother (priceless)
3. Singing with SANGERS!!!
4. Fashion destrict and sample sales
5. Cranking out an idea with my brother that is very EXCITING for us and you!

The town so nice they named it twice...

I love Portland, but Walla Walla has my little heart. I attended college here and although I hated it at first, I fell in love with it after a while. I love coming down here and just having a community of friends and also my sweet chumps (aka bf) Tajli. This has to be the 1st time my bf has agreed to be on my blog. So yes world, meet Tajli...my Jamaican-me-crazy! So, we took a Friday stroll to Whitman Mission, which is a small little touristy attraction down the street...also the most breaktaking sunrises and sunsets over the valley...and I realized it has been a little while since I put up non-selfie photography on my blog which I am really interested in. Ever get a chance, visit SE Washington and you will have so much fun in Walla Walla...

TPJ Welcomes: T. Ngazimbi-Swagger Jacker!

Last week I spent sometime in SoCal which was beyond delightful! I am a secret California girl. I love LA.  Honestly guys,  I had such an amazing time. I went shopping, I sang, and spent time with my family which are all my favorite things. I went for a music conference but got to see my brother Thulani who is also the editor in chief of The Kewrayter. I always tell this guy that he is so stylish...and he really really is. I love every piece of this outfit and I love how he puts things together too! Check out today's swagger jacker!!!!

5 rules to step into Fall

Lets talk style and Fall shall we?

Transition into Fall

Transitioning from Summer to Fall in the style department is a little more tricky than any other season because it is shorts/mini skirts and fun bright colors meets boots and muted colors which can be really difficult to move into...

TPJ 5 Rules of Fall:

1. The first step to fall is browns...add a brown shade to your look!
2. Slowly pack away the sandals, and switch them for wedged sneakers, booties, and boots
3. Layer, layer, layer until the season is in full effect
4. Add a blazer
5. hello...vibrant colors are still needed...in MAJOR moderation...so deeper shades of blues, greens, reds, oranges <- very autumn friendly colors

Golden Girl

I think the style guru portion of my conscience secretly adores gold because I tend to gravitate to golden colors and jewelry as of late even though I don't necessarily favor the color . I recently picked up these superga sneaks from Ross and I was stoked because they were on clearance for an overly affordable price. I love the dress with sneakers look and these shoes are not hard core at all; they are subtle and shimmery and add a nice dash of flare to the dress!

Dress- Joe Fresh via JcPenney for $6.97
Shoes- Superga sneaks via Ross for $11.99
Belt- Charlotte Russe for 3/$1.99

Necklace/Ring- HM for $3/$1

Let's talk about Snacks baby...

Let me be the first to say it, I LOVE FOOD!

I have a serious snacking problem...I find myself picking up so many snacks at the grocery store. I love to munch. Thankfully, I snack on somewhat healthy stuff, not only that but healthy portions; because honestly, in the "keeping it real" world, nothing is healthy if you over eat. I got my munchies for the next 3 weeks to a month so I am excited. I just wanted to share with you guys things I love.

ps- I find myself at Trader Joes a lot, you can never go wrong there 9/10 times, your experiment will be delicious

In my snack cupboard:
Popcorn- 1 small bowl full per serving (I had braces for a long time, so I had to redevelop my love for it)
Baked Pea Crisps - 10-15 crisps per serving  (delicious...yum yum yum)
Roasted Seaweed- 2 sheets per serving (acquired taste...after that its yum)
Wheat Thins- 5-7 thins per serving (I honestly snack to munch, to get full so this many does the trick for me)
Clif Bars- 1/2 a bar per serving(LOVE THESE)
Naked Smoothies- 1/2 cup per serving (hits the spot...kinda sugar ridden so really limit yourself)
Coconut Water- will take this to work or in my lunch pack or something
+ granola (I am a granola junkie) 3/4 of a cup with 1/2 cup of almond milk

AND of course, I always have fruit (apples [1 gala, fuji, or red delicious], blueberries  [handful], strawberries [4-5 medium-large]) on hand and also veges (carrots, snap peas, cauliflower, and broccoli).

Eat right, feel right, and look right. oh yea and exercise...always working on that one lol

Print Panther

I love this dress! I love the print, the shape, and of course the price I paid for it! Hello...BARGAIN NONEE here! Did I mention I am a nurse? So twelve hour shifts are my friend, we're close, we get along...especially at night! So I kinda picked up a twelve hour day yesterday and that was a horrible idea...lets just say the exhaustion was TOO REAL!!! I slept for 13 hrs last night! Oh, also couldn't sleep the night before so I slept 1 and a half hrs prior to that. Yea, major fail...anyways, this outfit isn't a fail! HM for the win.

Love at the core...

The Struggle is real ya'll...

The last four months have been a major life change. I feel so crippled almost...although getting a degree, a nurse license, etc are supposed "crutches", I feel like a fish out of water; kind of feel as if I have been tossed into a sea, no life jacket or anything. I know that I am not alone here. There are so many new grads out there who are experiencing the same thing. I think I have to be one of the most positive people I know, but my positivity is running low...I honestly am taking it one day at a time and letting go, and allowing and trusting in the process. I know that God has plan for my life and that for as hard as I've worked, it's not in vain. In the words of my fav cartoon, and one of my fav sweetest young bloggers (R.I.P Talia):

Sun-kissed Orange

I was testing out taking pictures by myself using a tri-pod. It was a half success, half fail lol. I love this dress, I included it in my haul video which was my second youtube  video ever! Although I love the drapery of the dress, I did want to secure it down with a gold accent belt to accentuate my shape and also to add a nice pop of shimmer! Oh yes, the shoes were my grad heels..like 6 inches!

Dress me up...

I have been living out of a suitcase for most of this summer. So I have had few options as far as my wardrobe because I have been limited by space. Luckily, I have learned to deal with that issue by layering and using pop's of color. This outfit post strictly is to show you guys how to diversify one base piece (dress) and use it for a special occasion, a trip to the park or mall, or out at night with friends. I bought the dress actually for graduation weekend in June from Forever 21 for like $22.80. I was super stoke about it and it fits so well. I love to be modest yet sexy!

These sunglasses which look like they belonged to Cruella Deville herself, are everything! I love them. Unique, vintage with a touch of modern day flare. Gone Tribal

Today is so bittersweet for me. I am so sad that my brother is leaving me and going back to his reality. It has been an awesome summer...renegading like kids all over the northwest! Hanging with all my brothers! I will keep this memory, among amazing memories, forever. If there is one thing to say, wise words of sorts, the most important thing in life, is relationships...and your character. I'm working on mine...for life...

Summer Brights

Man, these last few weeks have truly been humbling and also a time forme to really learn patience. After I found the two gray hairs in the middle of my head, I realized that I need to calm down. I expected that after school I would find a job right away and settle down and that has not been the case at all. In fact, I have been failing at my hustle and couch surfing (lol kinda).

Regardless, my joy never fails. I love to laugh and enjoy life. And everyone starts somewhere right?!?!!! I love my photographer Taji (my bf). He is awesome! He was in town so of course I had photograph me. This outfit is so bright! I love it! I love bright colors like no other and I like to be radical in my outfit choices yet
relate-able.

2013...the chapter turned- Hello RN, BSN!

I have  been holding out on you guys big time!
In the last few weeks I experienced major changes in my life so I am in the process of breaking things down slowly...

1. I graduated with my Bachelors.
2. I took the NCLEX and passed!
3. I moved to a whole new state.
4. I am job and apartment hunting.

My life has been and still is hectic. But I promised you guys pictures from my graduation and here they are. I had such a great time with family and friends. If I could relive the experience, I would! I truthfully love being around my family and my friends:)
